La Liga: Atlético Madrid makes the departures of three players official

Memphis Depay, Mario Hermoso and Gabriel Paulista leave the 'colchonero' club

Atlético de Madrid announced this Sunday the departure of three familiar faces from the main squad of the Colchoneros. The Dutch Memphis Depay , the Spaniard Mario Hermoso and the Brazilian Gabriel Paulista have finished their contracts with the club and are leaving the Metropolitano .

Depay arrived in the Spanish capital in January 2023 from Barcelona . In a season and a half, he played 40 games and scored 13 goals for the Colchoneros .

Defender Gabriel Paulista , in turn, had a more discreet stint at the club, with just five games played in half a season for Atlético Madrid . He will continue his career at Besiktas , in Turkey .

The last player to leave the Madrid team is probably one of these three, the one who left the biggest impression on the fans. Trained at rivals Merengues , Mario Hermoso arrived at Atlético in 2019/2020, coming from Espanyol. The 29-year-old Spanish defender spent five seasons at the club, where he played in 174 matches, scored 10 goals and won a title: the Spanish Championship in 2020/2021. The player was entitled to a farewell video, shared on the club's social media.
